2 step process:
- Step 1 – Gentle Resurfacing: The Er:YAG laser precisely ablates (removes) very thin layers of scarred skin. Unlike older laser treatments that can cause significant downtime, Fotona’s fractional mode treats small micro-columns of skin while leaving the surrounding areas intact. This promotes faster healing and helps create a smoother, more even skin texture.
- Step 2 – Deeper Collagen Stimulation: The second wavelength penetrates the deeper layers of the skin without damaging the surface. This stimulates fibroblasts—the cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin. Over time, this remodeling process can soften the appearance of scars, improve skin elasticity, and help the scar blend more seamlessly with the surrounding tissue.
